Shawnee Bible Church is unique in that we do not look to tradition or ritual to guide what we do. We look to the Word of God. We are a Bible church, which means we believe God has given us the Bible to be our standard of faith and practice.
The people who call SBC “home” are not perfect, but we desire to continue growing in a thankful, teachable spirit as we worship together, learn together, and change together for the glory of Christ.
We hope that you will come visit us. If we can be of any help or answer any questions that you might have, please feel free to contact us!
What to Expect
How long is the Sunday morning service? Our morning worship service runs for about 1 hour and 15 minutes (typically ~35 minutes of singing, Scripture reading, and prayer, and ~40 minutes of Bible preaching).
What about kids? Sunday school classes are available for children at 9:30 AM; at 9:30 AM and 10:45 AM, nursery is provided for infants through 3 years old. Children's church is available for kids K-4th grade during the preaching portion of the morning service.
What’s the service like? We believe a worship service is not a show, but a time to worship God by listening to the reading and preaching of his Word. We also worship in singing, praying, and giving, which we believe are expressions of love and dependence upon God. Our music is a blended style comprising piano, vocals, guitars, drums, and keyboard. Our sermon series are normally expository in nature (going verse by verse through books of the Bible).
How do people normally dress? You are welcome to dress in a manner that is comfortable for you. Our congregation normally dresses in a mixture of business casual to formal style.
What We Believe
The Bible is the inerrant and inspired Word of God.
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16)
Jesus Christ is God incarnate, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.” (Matthew 1:23)
Sin has broken the relationship between God and mankind. Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection have completed the only perfect sacrifice that can bring man back to a holy God.
“For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15:22)
“By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.” (1 John 4:9)
Eternal salvation is received by acknowledging one’s sins and placing one’s faith in Jesus Christ alone.
“That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
